When entering the State Pension details on the Fact Find I find the questions problematic. When it asks ‘Are you in receipt of your State Pension’ if you answer ‘Yes’ it still seems to want you (the client) to fill in ‘Have you recently obtained a forecast?’ ‘State retirement age’ ‘What is your projected State Pension?’ ‘How many years have you made National Insurance Contributions?’
This causes confusion if you (the client) is already in receipt of their pension. As far as I’m concerned, if you answer that you are already in receipt of the State Pension, the other fields should be greyed out and the only question should be ‘How much is your State Pension?’ and the ‘Frequency’. That’s the benefit of an intelligent IT based questionnaire over a paper based one. Likewise, the normal State Pension Age could be calculated and generated by the system. I believe this was either on IO or CashCalc or even both.
What do you/others think?
