Bespoke Fact Find

The way we view fact finds is typically dominated by industry terminology, e.g. assets, liabilities. Internally, this is fine, but when it comes to asking the client to complete the fact find, I'd like the ability to bespoke the way it is presented to the client. This would mean NOT calling it a Fact Find and using friendlier terminology than assets/liabilities, e.g. what you own, debts you have. The more we can dumb down our language to terminology clients better understand, the better.

Hey everyone, just a little update to say that since the end of last year our dev team have been working on fact find v3 on Plannr, and we’ve posted an update on our community showing progress. Very much on track to delivery by end of Q1.

can we please get a free type box on every single page in all client info & plans like we have in the protection data capture. You are never going to add every single fixed data capture that all individual firms require for plans or employment etc but a free type box allows any user to capture anything they want on the same page - the additional pop out notes are not suitable for capturing material data. These notes boxes don’t need to be client facing but need to be printable as a full plan or client snapshot to add to documents when closing an advice case

I’ve attached the protection screen shot

Or the ability to add custom filed to every page at firm level - notes/ radio button/tick boxes etc or the ability to link custom field to plan type as otherwise the custom field we set to protection requirements show on mortgage and pension plans and vice versa

The main requirements I have are:

Free type internal notes on every page of the data capture, not hidden in a pop-out, would be a game changer. At the moment, it feels like we’re trying to write a novel with sticky notes and no chapters. We then need an internal export that creates a PDF snapshot of all factfind and plan info, including both internal and external notes to attach to each advice case.

It’s currently too hard to package a case properly for export or retention. We should be able to create a Zip file of the full case narrative that supports the advice given, with all notes included.

Income should be definable as BOTH gross and net. Expenditure should auto-total into essential and discretionary, and be deducted from net income to show affordability. This needs to be visible in the live client view, not just on a PDF/third party export.

Life stages of expenditure are great in theory, but if you can’t clone, compare or total them easily in the live view, they are not a practical tool. The system should help us give advice, not create extra admin just to get basic info.

We’d also like the ability to remove (or toggle off) the option for clients to add another client when completing a factfind. We never want clients to add other clients to out database, ever. That should be a controlled action for us.

Hopefully circles functionality will improve over time, but right now we can’t print a joint factfind snapshot for a circle, which makes it harder for compliance to follow the advice narrative on two (or more) separate factfind exports. Also, we can’t add joint income like BTL rent from a shared asset in circles.

The client overview screen needs a free type box(es) where key notes are clear to all users, not buried in the feed. It should be fully editable to suit the advice firm’s needs. Has the client agreement been signed? What date and version? Subject to MPAA? TFC/LTA usage? Data protection signed, version history? Temporary instructions like client in hospital, power of attorney potentially being activated, in process of separation, not suitable for portal use, etc.

I’d hope the Factfind 3.0 team are asking:

“How do we make live data capture as easy as possible, customisable to the firm, with internal notes on every page?”

“How easy is it for users to review and understand each page of data capture with the relevant hard and soft facts on the page, with no extra clicks?”

“How can advisers understand affordability without needing third-party software?”

And the big ones: “Can ALL client and plan data, including every note, be fully exportable to the advice case?”
“How does a full advice case data export as a standalone snapshot to protect the firm and adviser in the event of a complaint?”

Sorry for the essay, just my two cents

From my side, it’s equally important to have a robust internal Fact Find version for advisers that avoids duplication of work. Currently, we send the client a request, then impersonate them to complete the Fact Find, and afterward go back to each section of the client’s record on the adviser side to edit notes and make them private. We also have to create a custom form to add additional sections and information as custom fields. This creates extra admin and increases the risk of errors when searching for information later, as once the Fact Find is locked, the data is split across two parts.

If the bespoke Fact Find could seamlessly manage both client input and adviser updates without duplication, provide better control over note visibility, and allow the creation of custom sections for things like Affordability or Professional Connections, that would massively improve our workflow and reduce admin overhead. These custom sections help when reviewing previous Fact Finds for specific advice, as the information is clearly organized in dedicated sections.

yes. Being able to edit the sections and change the terminology would be good
